The NSW government will not support a bill seeking to ban the burqa, Premier Kristina Keneally says.

NSW Christian Democratic Party MP Fred Nile says the state Labor government will lose votes in western Sydney after it decided to oppose his private member's bill banning burqas in public.

Reverend Nile in June introduced a bill to parliament which would prohibit wearing burqas and other face veils in public, despite the same bill being voted down by the NSW Upper House in May.

NSW Premier Kristina Keneally at the time said she opposed the bill in principle but would leave it to cabinet to make a final decision on the government's position.

Speaking at an interfaith gathering at NSW Parliament on Monday night, Ms Keneally said cabinet had now decided to oppose Reverend Nile's bill.

"We are fortunate to live in a largely harmonious state where differences in language, culture and faith are rightly seen as things which enliven and strengthen our society," Ms Keneally said.

"It is in this spirit that the NSW Government has decided to oppose the bill seeking to create a criminal offence of wearing a burqa in public places. Such a ban has no place in multicultural NSW."

Reverend Nile said he was disappointed cabinet had not allow a conscience vote on his bill, and warned it would cost the Labor Party votes at the 2011 March state election.

He also accused cabinet of gagging the ALP caucus.

"Now people who are in favour of my bill will criticise the ALP," he told reporters on Tuesday.

"I'm sure there will be a backlash against the ALP - I've got no doubt about that.

"They'll get some votes from the Muslim community (but) they're going to lose some votes among the Labor supporters in the western suburbs, who are very conservative on this issue."

Reverend Nile said his bill had some support within both the government and opposition.

But without the backing of government, he admitted the bill now has little chance of success when it comes before parliament on September 23.

"I believe that in Australia we've always had an open face society - I can look at your face, you can see my face," he said.

"Here you have a person shrouded in usually a black cloth ... and I think it is a sign of oppression of Muslim women."

The cabinet decision follows a recent ruling in a Perth district court that a Muslim woman must remove her full covering should she give evidence in a fraud trial.

The NSW Greens have already opposed the ban, labelling it racist - a charge Reverend Nile disputes.

Greens MP John Kaye said the bill was a "thinly disguised attack on the Muslim community", and called for the Barry O'Farrell opposition to speak out against it.

"Barry O'Farrell needs to call it for what it is and stop pandering to the fear vote," Dr Kaye said.

"The coalition should show some leadership and reject this bill."

A spokesman for Mr O'Farrell said the bill hadn't yet been considered by shadow cabinet.

I am asking this question because the Palestinians are victims of Israeli atrocities. Yet, the Palestinians are known as terrorists and the offending Israelis are known as victims! This is the biggest mockery of justice and distortion of truth. So, the obvious question is, “why is it so”?

I was looking for answers! Why are some people insulting me and Palestinians instead of maintaining the civility by answering the specific question? Isn’t a reflection of Israeli arrogance and blatant brutality?

Why anyone would like to throw the Palestinians in the desert or ocean? If we follow this type of Israeli logic then why any one should condemn Hitler’s ethnic cleansing when the Israelis are conducting ethnic cleansing for a long time?

The issue is simple!

A group of people claim, “God gave us the land. Our God don’t want us to share the land with others. We have the right to ethnically cleanse non-Jews”. They deny all of the above. Yet, any one can see that they believe and practice all of the above!

They say, they are victims of European atrocities. They do not want a piece of Bavaria to settle the scores of European crimes! Instead they want lands of Arabs who did nothing to them and protected them for years!!

Man jailed over attack on Indian cabbie

A 48-year-old man has been jailed after racially abusing an Indian taxi driver during a drunken outburst northwest of Melbourne.

Paul John Brogden, of Navigators near Ballarat, was sentenced to three months' jail on Friday, about 12 hours after he slammed back 24 cans of beer and launched a tirade of abuse against the 24-year-old Indian driver.

"Members of the public have been terrorised by your conduct," Magistrate Michelle Hodgson told Brogden in a Ballarat court on Friday.

While the man had drunk excessively and taken Valium tablets before the outburst, she said there was no excuse for his behaviour.

"The courts and the community will not tolerate violence to people performing jobs in the community - vulnerable jobs."

The court heard the taxi driver picked Brogden and his brother up in Ballarat at about 2am (AEDT) on Friday and they asked to be driven to nearby Navigators.

But Brogden became abusive and asked the driver to take a faster route.

He then told the driver he would kill him when he was dropped off before racially vilifying him.

The driver pressed an emergency button in his cab and pulled into a petrol station.

"He went inside the service station, the defendant followed him inside and verbally abused him," police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Clint Prebble told the court.

Brogden then assaulted a bystander at the petrol station before returning to the taxi.

He then smashed the taxi's windscreen with his arm, ripped out a GPS device and damaged a radio.

The taxi driver was uninjured in the attack and Brogden was arrested at the scene.

Brogden pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful assault, one count of making threats to kill and one count of intentionally damaging property.

Defence lawyer Philip Lynch said his client could not remember much of the incident or making any racial slurs.

"How he was standing up, I have no idea," Mr Lynch said.

"He said, `I am not going to remember all what occurred and whatever happens to me happens to me'.

"He is appalled about his behaviour."

Magistrate Hodgson said she would have imposed a five-month jail term if Brogden had not pleaded guilty.

He was also ordered to pay $1,520 in damages.

The incident was the latest in a spate of violent attacks on Indians in Victoria, including the stabbing murder of Nitin Garg in Melbourne earlier this month.

Gautam Gupta, spokesman for the Federation of Indian students in Australia, called on the Victorian government to act on newly established hate crimes legislation.

"I am expecting the government to take the issue seriously and apply the full force of the new Hate Crimes Act," Mr Gupta told AAP.

"It is time to test the act and see how much meat is in it."

Mr Gupta said both the driver and the passenger should undergo counselling.

"We need him (the passenger) to be a productive member of society," he said. "We need to shift his mindset instead of leaving him on the fringes."

On the 23^rd May 2009 Taxi went to Sydney Theatre to attend the Writers Festival initiated “The Authors Right to Speak”. Rumour says, the news of Taxi’s possible presence made Dr. Anne Summers absent. However, most of the speakers amongst the five on stage and the MC were fairly O.K. but Neil James and a Pommy called Monica Ali was very militant and blatantly anti-Muslim and anti-Arab. In their manner and presentation they were more aggressive and prejudiced than any misguided mullahs. It became obvious that they love to talk to themselves and not to consider others opinions whether valid or invalid! At the end, amongst the big crowed they only took only one question. Taxi got annoyed and yelled, “where is the free speech here, you elitists? I will give you some ‘Salman Rushdie’ if you like”. But there was a wary silence! Taxi shouted again, “You gutless wonders, you talk about free speech and there is none for us”!

Considering the vile and brutal manner of Ali and Neil, Taxi formulated his sermon for the night in a similar manner to expose their style and prejudice:

1. The Greek democracy was good (?) because they have excluded women, slaves, and many others.

2. The German democracy was wonderful because they have excluded the Gypsies and many others including a few Jews.

3. The modern day Jewish democracy is fantastic (?) because they too exclude the non-Jewish person i.e. the Arab Muslims, Christians, etc.

1. Monica, “would you like to support an epic tale of Jewish “Mishnah”? i.e. A girl of the age of 3 years and a day may be betrothed, subject to her father's approval, by sexual intercourse.

But Taxi could not ask his questions publicly! So he went on to address those elite authors who were now off stage and sitting in public and signing their own books for them. He delivered the articles below, and a few more well written articles in addition to those then handed them over and said, “free speech should be for all or for none. If we are allowed to insult one religion then we must be allowed to insult all religions. No one should be supporting elitism. My name, phone, email and web links are here on these documents. You are welcome to answer me in any format you want and whenever you want”. He also distributed the same interesting articles inside the venue to others with some wonderful results.

Mr. Waqas Mohammad of Dulwich Hill, NSW was employed by EGH Jet Star through an employment agency named Blue Collar since 12th of July 2007 as a Baggage handler on a five days per week basis.

On 7th of March 2008, he found out from his mates that he was sacked by the Manger of EGH Jet Star due to a small error while he was working. He then went to the boss in question to clarify the situation. The manager and the employment agency told him that he is no longer required by them.


A few of his work colleagues including his supervisors like Pitt and Cookie requested them to keep Waqas in the Bag Room. Yet, they refused to reconsider the matter.


In desperation and due to lack of legal help or protection, this young man went to the Social Security for registration. During that procedure, the managers in question failed to tell the truth or even confirm or deny the fact that they sacked this young person over a small error. During his employment period he was outstanding and very good worker. They also failed to provide him with an Employment Certificate or any other assistance.

We are hearing a lots of spins from the predictable groups that the Maritime Union busting and conspiracy graduate John Howard's proposed Industrial Relations reform means, "Bosses are waiting with bagful of money to give a way to workers – but the bloody union leaders are standing in between because they don't want to loose their powers". Well, we have heard them all before during the affairs of MV Tampa, Children Over Board, No More GST, WMD, Saddam's Human Shredding Machine and connection with Bin Laden etc. Surely, this won't be the last. So, what is the reality?

Since 1938 NOT one taxi driver was reinstated for Unfair Dismissal and as a result the taxi industry is going down the hell. Should a driver asks for holiday pay, sick pay or complains about the unsafe condition of the taxi – he or she gets the boot without any recourse whatsoever. According to the law, taxi drivers are entitled to get holiday and sick pay. However, the good bosses pay them nothing. Yet, they falsely claim to the taxman and receive TAX DEDUCTION for the entitlement they never paid in the first place. They blatantly ignore Industrial relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Acts and many other acts.

“Islam is Incompatible with Democracy” was the theme of the debate.

Prior to the debate poll result was;
1. Yes: 38

After the debate the result was;
1. Yes: 48
2. No: 52.

Therefore the group of Daniel Pipes lost the debate. In other words, Islam is compatible with democracy. Would you believe, under pressure, Pipes agreed too!


During the question/statement time I said, “the holy Qur-an is like constitution and Hadiths are like Case and Statue laws. On top of these guidelines, debate and discussions are permitted and they used to practice a fairly good democratic process. However, today, the democracy is under the barrels of guns in Pakistan, aided and abetted by the USA for their own-interest. Egypt is in the same direction. Again, the corporate governments of USA destroyed the democracy of Algeria earlier.


However, knowing the specific blinker of Pipes, I have to say, “Ugly Judaism Is Incompatible With Any Religion and Zionism Is Incompatible With Any Civilised Society”. I also promised to handover an extended dossier to each panel members in support of my argument. At the end of the meeting I passed them on and waiting for a reply.


After the debate couple of young ladies said, “we know you, we saw you in many rallies, do you mind if we take some photos with you and your famous T-shirt”. I had a chuckle with them and they took some photos.


Some people who were ‘scared’ of me because of my T-Shirt or look prior to the debate asked me for my fliers and I gave them until they finished.


However, prior to the meeting some predictable people complained to the security about my pole/bumper stickers, “Free Palestine” and “Stop Genocide in Iraq”. They were ignored.


Some people complained about my existence at the door of the Sydney Recital Hall. They too, have not had enough luck. Some of them refused to take my fliers and look at me with contempt. Yet, I maintained civility with them.


A few of them came and told me, “your materials are disgusting”. I said, “according to your opinion”. The reply was, “it is a fact”. My response was, “based on what evidence”. After a few exchanges, I said, “what Daniel Pipes preaches and practices are really disgusting, not my arguments because they are based on facts. One said, “you should not be allowed here in the first place”. One shouted, “you are smiling like an innocent baby while distributing offensive materials and wearing a disgusting T-Shirt”. I said, “where is the free speech and do you believe in selective free speech only”? They too, complained to the security and management without any luck.


I said to myself, during the Howard period we were gradually loosing free speech and democracy, dummying down education, ‘children over board’ and ‘truth over board’ overtook free press and publications, public servants were muzzled and bullied into submission!


Under Kevin Rudd may be we are going to regain them now.


Oh, I did not have a ticket for the venue. During my adventure I went inside to get a ticket without any success. Anyway, I continued my mission. At one stage I noticed a nice person was hanging around me. I asked him, “do I know you”. His reply was, “I know you from the Politics in the Pub … “. Naturally, we continued to discus a few issues. At one stage he said, “I love to talk to you but I got a small problem”. I said, “what is it”? His response was, “ I’ve got four tickets but one of my friend is not coming and I have to offload one”. I laughingly said, “your problem is my problem and please give me that ticket’. Yes, he gave me the ticket for half of the actual price while the 1200 seat venue had many powerful standby buyers.


Well, next time if I see this journalist bugger, I’ll shout him a nice cuppa.


Oh, I forgot to tell you, Daniel is not a bright fellow. His arguments are based on prejudice and bigotry rather than facts or meticulous analysis. He is not a Middle East expert at all. The evidence is Iraq, Afghanistan and tonight’s debate! Self declared experts like him forced the USA in quagmires after quagmires without any remorse whatsoever!
